Because of the lack of investors, a methane port construction project, located just around Etretat resort, has been suspended.
As soon as the tender was publicated, in 2006, Surfrider Foundation Europe and its locals representations denounced this large scale project with elected representatives and other organisations at its side. This project plans a 20 km embankment construction on the sea that would cause the disappearance of St Jouin Bruneval beach, one of the only sand beach in this region.
Although Gaz de Normandie has decided to suspend its project, the company reiterated its intention to bring the methane terminal to fruition. Surfrider and the several project's opponents make every effort to achieve its definitive suppression.
