Surfrider is worried. We received several testimonies from our members to warn us about Brétignolles-sur-mer’s (France) marina’s project.
This « HEQ-reputed » project, for High Environmental Quality, seems paradoxically to feature more harmful impacts on environment than qualities.
La VIGIE organization asked for Surfrider’s and France Nature Environnement’s support to take care of the case’s following. Among many fears raised by this project, are listed suspicions about: wet areas’ destruction, impact on a natural area of ecological, animal and biological interest, Natura 2000 offshore area destruction, lack of respect of seashore law, incompatibility with the preservation of archeological patrimony, of surf spots and beaches threatened with disappearance…
This is to say that this project « cumulates » and raises apprehension and indeed misunderstanding. A public investigation will open soon and we’ll have to keep watching it to preserve our seashore from these possible attacks.
A new fight for Keepers of the Coast against this artificialization is launched. Surfrider will support the upcoming VIGIE’s press conference, to take place on 5th of January in the organizations’ hall of Brétignolles-sur-mer (France). It is chaired by the CPNS.
