It is time for biodiversity and to respect our natural environment. Surfrider Foundation Europe offers to accompany the general public to different places on the Gironde coastline to discover or rediscover its natural resources.
Because men are part of the biodiversity and act directly on it through their lifestyle or their activities, we intend to make people understand that the harms caused to the environment are not only damaging the flora and fauna, but also damaging men themselves. Thus, as an educational objective, clean-ups of the visited areas will be suggested to participants, in addition to visits of natural areas.
Objectives
- To discover various natural environments of the coastline
- To observe their diversity
- To acquire basic knowledge in ecology
- To understand the human impact on these environments
- To take an interest in the environment surrounding us and thus to better respect and protect it
Surfrider is able to conduct this project thanks to the "dispositif grand public" (general public plan), financed by the General Council of Gironde. Through two types of services, the association will raise awareness in an educational and fun way to the fragility of the environment and its needed respect.
These services can be divided into two phases:
- "out of season" period : from April to June, then from September to November, activities will consist in guided visits of natural and worthwhile areas.
- "summer holidays" season : during July and August, activities will be located on the beaches.
