Var - Bandol sewage works

Someone sympathetic to our cause alerted us to an untreated outflow from the sewage works in Castellet. This resulted in the works flushing raw sewage in a pipe that gives onto the beaches in Bandol and Sanary. The local authorities had not been informed of the pollution by the works even though they had known about the problem for several days. Our sympathiser contacted the local authorities in order to bring an end to the pollution but without success.

We put pressure on them by regularly contacting all the parties concerned with this pollution in order to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
As a result of our efforts the works was forced to introduce emergency treatment measures and to clean up the mess. Following this, the state, through the auspices of the DDA, criticised the works management for the pollution. The technical problem was however addressed.
