Choose the right sunscreen Avoid large amounts of packaging and ones using micro plastic! Look for “ocean friendly” and “eco responsible creams”.
Respect the beach
The beach is a fragile ecosystem and must be protected.
Don’t pick up natural remains (shellfish, seaweed, driftwood)
as this will help preserve the wildlife located there. For more information, consult our explanatory index “Water Mark”.
With sun and heat, you need to drink plenty of water.
Instead of using plastic bottles, use a reusable kanteen you can refill with tap water.

Keep the water clean
If you drop it on the land, it ends up in the sea !
It is important not to leave litter on the beach (such as plastic bottle, cigarettes, papers) to keep it clean. Report pollution or organize a waste collection on the Ocean Initiatives web page.

YOU NOW KNOW HOW TO PROTECT THE BEACH WITH THESE POSITIVE ACTIONS!
The Surfrider Beach Tour starts Sunday, July 8th, meet us on the beaches thoughout France to learn more and participate in our activities on eco-friendly behaviours.
WHAT IS THE SURFRIDER BEACH TOUR?
After the first edition that reached more than 80,000 people on beaches and social networks in France, Surfrider Foundation Europe decided to launch the second edition of the Beach Tour. The Tour will therefore cover 2 French coastal regions, over 4 stages, in order to reach holidaymakers and make them aware of the eco-friendly actions necessary for the preservation of the oceans.
The Surfrider Beach Tour focuses on the high season period because of the high concentration of visitors on the coast in the summertime. This allows us to meet the largest number of people and interact with them during their vacations, to educate and raise awareness on the necessary issues of preservation of this heritage.
The Surfrider Beach Tour project is being developed with the support of the Avène dermo-cosmetic brand as part of its “Ocean Protect Skin Respect” initiative, in order to inform holidaymakers about the harmful effects of the sun and to learn the rules of photo-protection.
